Ubuntu Mobile On My Desktop!
Wow! I followed the instructions on this page, and what do ‘ya know? I’ve got Ubuntu Mobile on my desktop!
The installation apparently takes a bit from my desktop apps, or at least it uses several GNOME preference applications. It may look a little out of focus, but that is because the Xephyr application set the size too large for the maximum screen size for Ubuntu Mobile. The links to many of the applications are mixed up, but it is still fun to check it out. Also, on setup, the terminal command (at the top of the how-to page I linked to above) actually goes into the terminal after you click the terminal button in the “Targets” section in the image creator. Just a case of mixed-up directions, but easy to fix.
Gee, I can’t wait for Nokia to release an Ubuntu Mobile divice…

Nice… But I don’t think you’ll see Nokia using Ubuntu Mobile. They bought Trolltech remember ? Nokia will be doing the QTopia thing… its all good though.
Actually, they were going to invest in QT integration in Ubuntu Mobile, and is expected to be used in a device sometime later this year.
Of course, we won’t know until an actual device is released…
