Compiz works too!?

In my switch to PCLinuxOS, and with it’s astounding success on my laptop, I attempted to get Compiz Fusion working.  For some time, I have had issues with getting my desktop to work with Compiz under Linux, which is something that bothered me since Microsoft Windows Vista had eye-candy that worked, and worked well.

That, has all changed.  With one click in the PCLOS Administration Center, I had Compiz up and running.  Now I can peel back windows, fly through desktops, and have fun with the transparency.  Very cool.

Have you checked out the latest alpha of Hardy yet? There are still a few rough patches, to be sure, but Compiz Fusion works rather nicely in it, even on my Dell laptop with an ATI driver, out of the box.

I tried to install the latest alpha on my laptop, but it refused to even start the liveCD. I have actually installed the Alpha on a VM in VirtualBox, and I have to say it looks pretty good.
