Stockpiling - LoCo about Boxes

As with any other LoCo, stockpiling is often one of the first steps to beginning a campaign in their locale. The same can be said about the Georgia (US) Team. I have, sitting on my desk, stacked neatly, 8 CD boxes. 5 Ubuntu, and 1 Xubuntu, 1 Kubuntu, and 1 Edubuntu. I have also made single page fliers for each of the distros, and if I do say so myself, they look awesome! :P

I know that we are primarily for Ubuntu, but when the situation arises for us to show off another official version, it pays to be ready. We almost ran into that situation with the NECC down at the Georgia World Congress Center, we were going to present Edubuntu. Unfortunately, we wont get a booth, which stinks.

Another situation that came up is two people came to me in the LoCo asking if they could distribute Ubuntu CE (Christian Edition, a repackaged version of Ubuntu), at their churches and Christian bookstores, which sounds like a really good idea to me. I told them that they could, but it would be outside of the LoCo’s efforts, in respect of those in our loco that may not believe the same thing as I do. As a Christian, it is obviously my purpose to bring people to Christ. However, I never want to push it on anyone, just because it just is not respectful of others. So now I have a template made for those boxes, along with a flier.

I didn’t do any for other distros (Freespire, Linux Mint), because they add packages to the Ubuntu base to make their own, which would be outside of our Ubuntu universe. As an Ubuntu LoCo, our goal is to spread Ubuntu, and the rest of the officially supported versions (K/X/Edubuntu), and those specifically.

Phew. I am up to my ears in Ubuntu stuff.
