Dell and friends

After I read a post from boredandblogging.com (nick, one of the Georgia LoCo team leaders) made a post that talked about Dell and the drivers they were developing, I had to go and find out more. At Dell’s Direct2Dell blog, they have a vlog on one of the more recent posts about Ubuntu being installed on their PCs. In the video, one of the Dell folks took you (the viewer) on a tour around the Dell Linux workshop. One of the most interesting parts, however, was about drivers, not specifically the hardware, but the software. They said Dell was working hard to get more drivers put into the Linux Kernel. I can not stress how good this is for Linux. One of the larger hurdles for Linux to jump are the multimedia codecs.

Now if we could only get wireless drivers….
